T.R.A.C.K.S.
Our school has a school-wide positive behavior plan, which we call TRACKS. Each letter of TRACKS stands for a different school rule.
Classroom Expectations
Each teacher at Spring Forge and Shallow Brook is asked to keep records of a TRACKS behavior chart. Each child in their class moves up and down depending on their individual behaviors throughout the day. Each student begins the day on GREEN and ready to go.
If a student ends the day on orange, it is considered “orangetastic” for going above and beyond classroom expectations. This will typically result in additional tickets given for exceptional behavior.
If a student ends the day on green, it is considered a great day following TRACKS expectations and results in the students having 2 tickets to be used for TRACKS prizes.
A warning will result in a move to yellow. If a student ends his/her day on yellow, fewer than two tickets will be awarded for this day.
Moving to red is a timeout/parent notification reflection sheet that the student completes and gets signed. Students whose behavior warrants a red or blue will most likely receive zero TRACKS tickets for the day.
Moving to blue is a referral to the office with parent notification.
Students who show improvement in their behavior have the opportunity to move up 1 color at a time to green. Once a student has moved due to inappropriate behavior, they can no longer reach orange status for the day.
Students have two recesses a day. Their PBIS recess takes place at the end of the day and is based on their color TRACKer. Additionally, T.R.A.C.K.S. cards and tickets are given based on each child’s color TRACKer.
You Can Make A Difference!
- View your child’s behavior calendar every school night.
- Discuss their behavioral successes and challenges.
- Please remember that a yellow day was because of a warning received in class and should result in an at-home discussion.
- Consider providing incentives for green and orange days. For example, after a certain amount of green days in a row they receive a reward.
- Together, we can encourage positive behavioral choices and ensure academic success.
TRACKS Lessons
An important characteristic of a Positive Behavior Support program is teaching the expected behaviors and procedures. Within our schools here at Shallow Brook and Spring Forge, we have lessons that are taught for each letter of T.R.A.C.K.S. at the beginning of the year. We also incorporate mini-lessons on behaviors and procedures for students to "refresh" them on those expectations throughout the year.
These lessons were designed by the building level PBIS Team, so that all students in a grade level receive the same lesson. Other lessons may be taught when they appear necessary. For instance, the PBIS team meets monthly and looks at discipline data from the previous month. Depending on data trends, the team may additionally choose to teach booster lessons if they see that students are struggling at a particular location or a type of behavior. The philosophy is focused on being proactive and avoiding negative behaviors as much as we possibly can.

What is PBIS?
T.R.A.C.K.S. is a district wide positive behavior support system. This framework is research based and has been proven to be highly effective. Each letter in T.R.A.C.K.S. represents a rule/expectation. In the following section, we will further explain the T.R.A.C.K.S. acronym. It focuses on celebrating students’ positive actions and reinforcing that behavior. Through T.R.A.C.K.S., our goal is to make sure that each child feels safe, celebrated and respected.
The purpose of the PBIS Team is to discuss the T.R.A.C.K.S. procedures we have in place, analyze the building’s behavioral data, and create additional supports as needed. The team includes the building principal, teachers, guidance counselor, other school staff, and parents. This team collaborates a minimum of monthly to best meet the needs of our students. Topics that are discussed at these monthly meetings include:
- Discipline Data Trends
- Positive Rewards for on TRACKS behavior
- Evaluation of current supports for positive behavior throughout the year
- PTO and PBIS Collaborations
