Acceptable Use Policy & Chromebook Information
Acceptable Use Policy & Chromebook Information
Northeastern York School District’s technology vision is to create an environment where students and staff use technology to support the curriculum, foster critical thinking, solve problems, communicate, and collaborate in all classrooms for every student. As part of this vision, the district has created an Anytime- Anywhere Learning program (AAL). The AAL program will give students access to personalized learning that supports the technology and overall district visions and is part of the new upcoming Comprehensive Plan.
Students will have a Chromebook assigned to them for the school year and the ability to take home the Chromebook every night. This will enable teachers and students to continue to work toward creating student-centered personalized learning environments. These types of learning environments will consist of a blended approach of traditional teaching techniques and digital learning. Students will take greater control of their own learning and teachers will mentor them through this process.
Costs associated with the AAL program are offset with the reduction in printing, curtailment of traditional textbook purchases, and purchasing Chromebooks instead of more expensive computers during the regularly scheduled technology replacement cycles. Parents and/or guardians do not have to pay a fee for their student’s technology use. However, a $25 annual insurance fee is offered and recommended as students are responsible for willfully or accidentally damaging the Chromebook. This is discussed later in this handbook.
Please read this handbook in its entirety. If you should have any questions regarding any of the materials presented, please contact your child’s principal.
