Student Assistance Program
Student Assistance Program
The goal of the Student Assistance Program is to identify students at risk of behavioral or emotional difficulties and provide interventions to help them succeed in school, focused primarily on mental health and drug/alcohol. Each building has a trained team of professionals who serve on this team, including administrators, teachers, school counselors, school social worker, school psychologist, and a nurse. The process starts with a referral from any parent, staff member, or student, which can be submitted anonymously. The team then assesses the referral, contacts the parent, and if appropriate and with parent permission, refers the student to our provider for a confidential assessment to be conducted within the school setting at no charge to parents. Mental health case management services are also available to referred students.
Student Attendance
Student Attendance
A foundation of student success is regular school attendance. In Pennsylvania, student attendance requirements are set by both state law and local school districts. According to the Pennsylvania School Code, students between the ages of 6 and 18 are required to attend school. All absences are either excused or unexcused based upon state and district criteria. Student absences may be excused by parents by submitting notes via email, mail, fax, or by calling the school. Absence excuse notes and educational trip request forms may be found here. See Board Policy 204 for additional details.
